Unusual to see so many ‘personalities’ involved in any political campaign. This Fiscal Treaty ad from the Alliance for Ireland has sports people , musicians and more.

      Its highly unusual here to have such ‘celebrities’ involved in a campaign like this one and the list of individuals in the Ad in Yesterdays paper is even longer. It included other sports people such as Sean Boylan. That said we do have a number of TDs and ministers whos profile in sport helped them pursue a political career. Jimmy Deenihan, Enda Kenny, Peter Fitzpatrick and John O’Mahony are a few names that spring to mind.
      Its not that unusual in the UK where the parties court celebrity endorsements.
