Irish Election Literature

… what you maybe meant to keep…

George Lee -Fine Gael -Dublin South By-Election 2009 February 8, 2010

George Lees election flyer.

From the 2009 Dublin South by-election Fine Gael poll topper George Lee. Lee at the time RTEs economics correspondent was a huge capture for Fine Gael.

I wonder would Enda be as enthused now? I always felt that Alan Shatter and Olivia Mitchell were grimmacing in the photo with George.

(Amongst other ‘celebrity’ candidates posted to date are Frank Mc Namara, Jeananne Crowley , Geraldine Kennedy and Orla Guerin)

  1. […] Lees election stuff from 2009 by-election George Lee -Fine Gael -Dublin South By-Election 2009 Irish Election Literature Blog also posted a large leaflet with a long message from Enda Kenny that doesn't read well now. […]

  2. I can’t even count how many hundred of those I dropped into houses. All for nothing!!!!

    • You must have enjoyed the count all the same.

The other Lee leaflet I posted is much better and Endas Message especially looks bad today.
Pity he left, there wasn’t much sympathy though for him when I was talking to people earlier.
      Is Enda finished?

  3. Paddy Duffy Says:

It’s always been my opinion that Enda should have stepped down at the last local and Euro elections and gone out on a high. He was never going to be Taoiseach anyway, but now he’ll do well to be in a Bruton Ministry.

  4. Paul M Says:

All impressions are that Bruton doesn’t want the job. After that there’s little or nothing there.
Who else could they turn to, Brian Hayes? Leo Varadkar?
I think Fergus O’Dowd might be good but he hasn’t the profile.
theres not much here on the FG front bench to choose from.

  5. Paddy Duffy Says:

Noonan ftw! I reckon Bruton will do the whole reluctant “If asked, I will serve” bit, a la Jim Hacker or Ryan Tubridy, but if he doesn’t you’re right, in 5-10 years time they’ll have an embarrassment of potential leaders but right now…Leo Varadkar probably has the ambition but little else, Fergus would be great but as you say he lacks the profile…so 6 to 5 and pick em, in other words!
