Over the last few weeks I happened to be doing searches for Fine Gael councillors.
Often the first result is the profile from the Fine Gael website.
Here I searched for Fine Gael councillor Donal Marren, but its the same issue for all of them.
Click on the link and you get brought to http://www.finegael.org/
You’d wonder how long this has been the case?

The Finegael.org website has lots of inbound links, lot of content, so it figures that Google looks there first, no? I find that the local websites and councillor blogs generally make it into the top 5 though. Did you find that too?
You’re right re their own websites, although there wouldn’t be a huge number of councillors with their own websites.
It just struck me as if it wasn’t tested correctly, especially as a search for a Fianna Fail councillor will return a result that goes to the councillors page on the FF website. Ditto for Labour Councillors.
Ah, when I did it and clicked on the link your point made more sense. The Google result points to their FG page, but when you click on the link it goes to the FG homepage. Not great really, is it? I’ll point it out to the boys.
