An interesting piece on your rights with regard to ‘Corporal Punishment in National Schools’ from a 1969 publication ‘Action’ printed and published by the Sean Heuston Branch of the Labour Party.
It outlines (what they thought) the cause of Corporal Punishment was in overcrowded classrooms and that ‘Beating is a British Legacy’. There are details of the law at the time with regards to when and by whom Corporal Punishment could be administered in National Schools. It gives details of who to contact including an organisation called ‘Reform’ which ‘was founded to combat excessive punishment in the schools.’
