  1. Mike Cooney's avatar Mike Cooney Says:

Credibility is not a word ‘writ large’in the current Labour Party’s lexicon. They entered an unholy coalition with a party who’s philosophy would now seem to be somewhere much to the right of Attila the Hun. “But (with a childish grin) you say that sort of thing during an election”, said Pat Rabbitte. Oh do you now I find myself asking. Of course there is a sort of inverted honesty when a politician confesses that they do make promises, give undertaking whatever is required when seeking votes – which they do not expect to be held to if and when they win, or at least become the government. Methinks that Labour politicos have gotten wind of a deal of Ireland’s debt and they now wish to portray themselves as the party that found a backbone and pushed Finn Gael into standing up to the Euro bully boys. When the sad truth is that Labour have been al-but useless in Government thus far. The Europeans are in town and we might yet see the Labour midgets strutting around Dublin castle throwing shapes and commenting on everything including the weather. At over three hundred grand a head, they’d better start doing something to earn their crust!
